Dwarka Prasad Suthar is a distinguished Kavad Kala artist from Rajasthan, known for preserving and innovating the centuries-old tradition of Kavad storytelling art. Trained under his family lineage, he has dedicated over four decades to creating intricate Kavad paintings depicting narratives from the Ramayana, Panchatantra tales, and other traditional folk stories. By adapting this heritage art to canvas, wood, and contemporary mediums, he has helped bring Kavad Kala to wider audiences. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to Indian handicrafts and traditional arts, he was honored with the National Award by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, in 2019. Through his work, Dwarika Prasad continues to keep Rajasthan’s rich storytelling tradition alive for future generations.
